It is a extreme privilege that I present the CSIA Ontario Hall of Fame recipient for 2009.
As I look back over the list of previous inductees, I see a group of people who have led, inspired and motivated. When I look at this years inductee, he has certainly done that. As for meeting the criteria for inclusion to the Hall of Fame, he is covered there as well.
Length of time teaching and time with the CSIA; our inductee started in 1962. Leadership and /or volunteer positions held within our sport; our inductee was one of the founders of the Ski School at the Oshawa Ski Club and ran the School until 1982. In addition to running the Ski School at the Oshawa Ski Club, our inductee was also a Level I Course Conductor and helped run the program.
Contribution to our industry; In addition to ski teaching and running the Ski School in Oshawa, In 1969 our inductee became a director with Skican, the country’s foremost ski travel company.
Devotion to the CSIA and promotion of the organization; our inductee was a member of the CSIA Ontario Board of Directors where he served as Ski School Directors’ Liaison.
Member should be over 40 years of age; although he certainly doesn’t act it, that criteria is met.
With all that being said, this year’s inductee not only personifies our profession and sport but is wonderful colleague and friend.
It is a great pleasure to welcome John Nicholls as the 2009 CSIA Ontario Hall of Fame Inductee.
