New to the PD Day agenda this year was a session by Andi Ciotti on the Women’s PTS.
It was great to see a number of men in the audience. And why not? It was the perfect opportunity for everyone to learn more about teaching women.
Andi began by asking the women in the group who had either attended the CSIA Women’s PTS or participated in an all woman sport or social group about what attracted them to it. The women recalled how supportive these groups had been and how they made them feel empowered. It wasn’t that they weren’t challenged but that the encouragement of the group made them try things they may not have ordinarily.
Andi then talked about how the Women’s PTS originated before going on to discuss technical/anatomical differences between male and female skiers, women-specific equipment, and psychological approaches to women skiers.
One of the best parts of the session was the interactivity between the female participants. What Andi was talking about was clearly demonstrated during the session. There was an easy camaraderie as women freely sought opinions, shared ideas, and gave recommendations.

Hopefully many will make it to WPTS this season in order to experience it first-hand! More details on this year’s event can be found here.
